Can more than two friends be put on the same team, say around four?

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Surrey Minor Ball Hockey holds a draft prior to the start of our season in Mid-March. Coaches draft players based on rankings assigned to players, siblings in the same division must be drafted together onto the same team. Coaches are asked to take into consideration special requests, such as car pooling. But this is not enforced and is left up to the Coaches. To answer the question, a request can be made for friends to be put on the same team, this is provided to the Coaches at the draft for consideration - the Association does not control the placement of players making these type of requests and therefore can not make guarantees of placing friends on the same team. In these cases, we suggest if two of the parents sign up to coach a team this would then provide an ability to have all four friends on the same team. Up to two players are protected by the Coaching staff (one each for the Coach and Assistant Coach) during the draft.

How many players are on a team?

Depending on the division there are usually 15-17 players per team, including the goalie.

My child would like to play, but would like to play in a different League.

Friday, October 14, 2011

If your home address is within Surrey but your child wishes to play for another association you must have a release to be able to play for that association. To obtain a release to play for another association please provide a minimum of TWO letters from TWO different people (Eg; Parent and Daycare provider or Parent and Grandparent) stating to the Executive why your child would like to play for that association. ***Please note that living close to Langley or Delta (for example) or wanting to play with friends is not considered a reason to obtain a release nor will we provide releases to players who register late and wish to use that as a reason to move associations. Once the Executive has received your written request they will be brought to the next scheduled executive meeting for review. After reviewing your request, the Executive will make a decision and contact you regarding their decision.

While the older age groups play after these age groups, with the Junior division playing as late as 8:30pm on weekdays.
